Moving house during stage four lockdown is still permitted for Melbourne residents who have made arrangements to relocate over the next six weeks.
But question marks still remain over whether they can move if they hadn’t already signed a contract before the latest restrictions.
The Department of Health and Human Services website confirms people with plans to move to a new primary place of residence can still do so within curfew hours between 5am and 8pm, while wearing a face covering.

Those with arrangements in place to move house during stage four restrictions can still do so.
Premier Daniel Andrews flagged further announcements regarding real estate in his Monday press conference.
“I don’t want to see people not able to settle on their home,” Mr Andrews said.
“I don’t want to see people who are supposed to move from one place to another because the lease has run out unable to do so.
“I think the answer will be ‘yes’ if you’ve got a contract, an arrangement in place.”

A state government gazette has confirmed Melburnians can leave the state or country for relocation purposes.
It is also clear they can move if the premises they usually reside in is no longer available for them or no longer suitable for living in.
The Herald Sun has asked the Department of Health and Human Services for further clarity on whether Melbourne residents could move house if they haven’t already made contractual arrangements to do so.
More information has also been sought about whether city residents can relocate to a new home in regional Victoria, inspect a property before settlement or hire removalists.
Collings Real Estate head of property management Caleb Pikoulas said there were more than 20 people moving into rentals with his agency this month.
“It’s our understanding you can still move in and out, and if you have a lease agreement on hand you can use that as proof of your moving date,” Mr Pikoulas said.
“But what we’ve done this week is handed out keys to tenants earlier than their start date and allowed them to move in before Wednesday night restrictions take place.”
Those without contractual agreements should wait until further announcements before choosing a move in date, he added.
Real Estate Institute of Victoria chief executive Gil King wrote to industry members that confusion on restrictions still reigned and discussions with government authorities could last until “late afternoon on Wednesday”.
