Iconic Airlie Beach restauranter Don Algie founded the Hogs Breath chain of restaurants out of the area.

Hog’s Breath Cafe founder Don Algie has sold a block of land he was holding onto for future development in Airlie Beach.

The property is listed as having gone under contract, but the price has not been disclosed.

Whitsunday Regional Council records show that a site at 21-23 The Cove Road was granted a development permit for change of use to short-term accommodation in July.

Ray White Whitsunday listed it on realestate.com.au as “a dream block of land” that would never be built out.

“Private gates at the entrance assure your privacy and security and you can build your dream home knowing that you are among some of the finest homes in Airlie Beach.”

CoreLogic records show Mr Algie bought land at the site for $760,000 five years ago off a company called Queensland Sand & Soil.

He has bought and sold property in the area for several years including a $1.2 million home sale in 2007.
