I think I’ve found Heaven. It’s a wild and woolly winter’s day outside, but I’m here on the sofa in front a blazing fire (well, an Escea gas fireplace), just taking in the amazing view.

The master suite has walls of white cupboards, some of which are actually doorways, and opens to a huge terrace.
As much as I’m loving it, Brad Pillinger points out it’s a completely different vibe on a warmer day when the sun’s shining and all that glass facing the park and ocean opens up, including the central terrace.
But the clever design goes way beyond capitalising on the 270-degree panoramic view. What I love is the way everything in this entertaining space can be hidden away behind a cupboard door: the big subzero fridge; the butler’s pantry; the TV, the kitchen utensils, a study nook; a toilet and junk space.
It’s all so superbly crafted, from the sculptural steel staircase at one end of the house, to, at the other end, stairs behind a discreet door leading to the master suite.
Everything can be tucked away behind a wall of cupboards on the entertainment level.

In the bedroom, I was confused at first — the walls are all white cupboard doors, including the two entry points: once inside I couldn’t find my way out again! I retreated to the massive terrace, which has a view in the other direction — across the sands at Bronte to the south. Naturally the master has a stylish ensuite.
Eventually I find the door out into the hallway, which leads to the other three bedrooms, one of which also has an ensuite. The other two are serviced by a shared bathroom. All three have built-in custom-built wardrobes and a desk — and an ocean view.

The “fifth” bedroom, on the lower ground floor, is set up as a study with a Murphy bed, and has a bathroom right next door.
Down here there’s also the gym, a home theatre, wine-cellar, a laundry and the three-car garage.
