Renders of the property show the couple will be able to entertain in style with a wraparound house design seamlessly integrating the inside and outside.

In a post to social media this week, Graya said; ‘The use of intricate latticework, green veils, and a neutral colour palette will create a relaxing and aesthetically beautiful space’.

Records show the Boyds paid $1.205 million for the site on which the home is being built.

The home’s interior design will be done by Kayla herself, who has her own business, Row Interiors.

The Boyds are repeat clients of Graya’s, with their last home in Hendra also by the builder brothers.

But this house, which is predominantly white, is very different to ‘Hendra House’, which was black and striking in features.

The retiring Broncos legend and his wife sold the property at 78 Harding Street for $1.86 million earlier this year, just weeks before the COVID-19 lockdown.

A STRIKING house clad in bold black ‘dragon scales’ promises luxury living with river views in Ocean Grove.

The modern builder’s own home, finished earlier this year, has hit the market with price hopes of $2.1m-$2.3m.

Sam Van Deuren, from Vand Builders, and his wife Jess constructed the three-bedroom house at 11 Asbury Street West for their young family.

11 Asbury St West, Ocean Grove is clad in distinctive steel shingles.

The living room upstairs has treetop views.

Black steel shingle cladding and 4m-high architectural windows framing the treetops are a standout feature of the home by Holman Design, which has been nominated for a Design Matters National Building Design Award.

The 605sq m property also has a swimming pool and spa, a winning outdoor entertainment area and a three-car garage.

Fletchers, Queenscliff agent Liam Rock said the high-end design stood out from the crowd in a great central location.

The maintenance-free Hybrideck extends from the outdoor entertainment area to the pool and spa.

The kitchen has a walk-in pantry, two ovens and an induction cooktop.

“I’ve never seen anything like it before in Ocean Grove,” Mr Rock said.

“It has got that contemporary glamour and the beach all in one, they’ve done an incredible job.

“They are great builders.”

He said the house was at the quiet end of Asbury Street, within an easy walk of the town centre, primary school and the Barwon River.

The property is close to the Barwon River.

A concrete render fireplace is the centrepiece of the main living room.

“The location is just so close to everything,” he said.

The house offers dual living zones and outdoor entertainment areas over two levels, with a balcony upstairs and poolside patio with a built-in barbecue accessed via a ground floor loungeroom.

Finishes include polished concrete floors downstairs, engineered oak flooring upstairs, quality kitchen appliances, bespoke tapware and pastel concrete vanities.

One of two bathrooms at the house.

The deck has views over the backyard and towards Geelong.

The triple garage with 3.2m clearance is ideal for caravan or boat storage.

An offset heat pump ensures the swimming pool stays heated all year, while a 15kW solar array and argon-filled double glazed windows promote sustainability.

Mr Rock said the property was already attracting attention as the top end of the Ocean Grove market continued to perform strongly.

Most viewed homes this year

446 Maleny-Kenilworth Road, Witta, has been the most viewed house in Queensland and the fifth most viewed in the country this year

A country retreat in the rural town of Witta in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, has topped a list of the ten most viewed homes in Queensland for the six months to June on realestate.com.au.

It also ranked number five on the list of most viewed homes in the country over the same period. The property, first listed in May for $785,000, is now under offer.

A five-bedroom Hamptons-style, new-build home at 12 Watson Street, Camp Hill, came in second on Queensland’s top ten list, and also ranked eighth with property hunters across Australia. After being listed in April it sold in June for $1.786 million.

Other properties that made the list range from a seven-bedroom Hollywood-style mansion in the Brisbane suburb of Chandler to a new-build coastal home within a boutique development on Hamilton Island.

Only one listing, 30 Arlington Street, Coorparoo, remains on sale, with five others having sold and the rest all under offer. Arlington Street went on the market in March and is seeking offers of more than $2.5 million.

Nerida Conisbee, the chief economist for REA Group, said the most viewed properties genreally tend to be in suburbs with good house price growth, and the fact that most were sold indicated that there was still money around despite COVID-19.

“It seems to be that people are looking for that escape or properties with room to move.”

She said the prevalence of the Hamptons-style home in Queensland’s top ten list was also no surprise as it is a firm house-style favourite in Queensland and New South Wales.

Yet location and looks are not the only things that can help boost a listing, Ms Conisbee said, a unique marketing campaign could also make all the difference.

“The most viewed house in Australia was in Sydney but it had the most amazing marketing campaign, with a guy doing a funny video,” she said.

Country escape: the good life awaits in Port Arthur

Property owner Antonia Scrivanich at 171 Lookout Road, Port Arthur. Picture: SUPPLIED

WHEN Countess Antonia Scrivanich first set foot on this Port Arthur property, she instantly knew it was a truly special part of Tasmania.

And since 2002 it has been her home.

Antonia says from that initial moment she was awe-struck by the beauty.

“I burst into tears when taking it in for the first time,” she said.

“It feels like the type of view that only millionaires are lucky enough to afford.

“I would have no hesitation calling it the best view in Lookout Road.

“It is most spectacular at dawn, especially around April and May.

“The sun streams in through my front windows in deep hues of red and blue — it is gorgeous.”

Wide water views.

Fabulously private.

Antonia’s acreage at 171 Lookout Road, Port Arthur stretches out across more than 14ha of elevated land with sweeping coastal and bushland views.

The large two-bedroom home features a Colorbond exterior and Hebel brick interior with double glazed windows and cross ventilation that helps the home feel comfortable all year around.

The property holds an air of grandeur with its high ceilings and a living space of epic proportions.

One of the bedrooms is located downstairs, while upstairs there is an impressive space with stunning blackwood flooring just waiting for the next owner to “make it what you wish”.

Petrusma Property senior consultant Kerri-Louise Hooper said the property’s view from its eyrie has “arguably the best vantage point of Port Arthur Historic Site’s Island” and it is positioned to never be built out.

“The view of the tumultuous coastline with its tremendous cliff faces, the Three Capes Walk and the ever-changing moods of the ocean is Mother Nature’s most exquisite piece of art,” she said.

“This is a unique and special offering; a slice of history and heaven in one.”

Fresh and fun interiors.

Place to lay your head.

Antonia has lived on Lookout Road for nearly two decades and while selling up and moving on can be stressful for any property owner, she is at peace with the idea.

“I will miss it, if and when I move,” she said.

“It is interesting, I just woke up one day and thought: what am I doing here? The sale of some nearby properties in the area was the inspiration for me to test the waters and potentially sell this property.

“I imagine the ideal buyer would be someone looking to escape the big city, the noise and their high-pressure job.”

No.171 Lookout Road, Port Arthur is listed with Petrusma Property and will be sold by expressions of interest.
